Through its Global Policy Network, and its outposted hubs in each programme region, UNDP facilitates locally appropriate and integrated support to Country Offices in real time. UNDP's rapid-deployment SURGE capacity includes staff and roster deployments, catalytic funding, and technical accompaniment.
SURGE Roster
Countries experiencing crisis need immediate access to the right people and tools to create a plan for moving forward and leaving no one behind, so we act before a crisis even hits, with scaffolded capacities and guidance for crisis response. SURGE Advisors are trusted UNDP staff trained and ready for rapid deployment within days. These experts are selected for their extensive field experience in crisis, knowledge of immediate crisis response situations, and technical expertise.
ExpRes Roster
The Global Policy Network (GPN) ExpRes Roster is a corporate deployment mechanism maintaining pre-vetted consultants for immediate support to UNDP offices globally. The ExpRes Roster covers the entire spectrum of UNDP’s Programmatic and Operational work and is a critical tool for UNDP’s capacity enhancement in crisis and non-crisis contexts.
UNV Tandem Teams
As an additional asset, the UN Volunteers (UNV) Tandem Teams Initiative offers various national and international UNVs, with over 100 professional profiles with diverse expertise and language skills.
Capacity Mapping
UNDP has also undertaken the first organization-wide capacity mapping using artificial intelligence, in order to ensure that we have the right people in the right place at the right time, harnessing the vast expertise and experience of UNDP’s global workforce, in line with the People for 2030 strategy.
Crisis Operations Lab
The Crisis Operations Lab is an initiative of the UNDP Crisis Bureau providing immediate short-term delivery and operations support to country offices.
