UNDP Associate Administrator Meets CIDCA Vice-chairman and Signs Agreement for Development Project in Turkmenistan

UNDP Associate Administrator Mourad Wahba meeting with CIDCA vice-chairman Zhang Maoyu in Beijing

Mourad Wahba, UNDP Associate Administrator met with Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) on Nov 8, 2019, for an exchange of views on strengthening cooperation on global development and South South Cooperation.

The meeting was followed by a project signing ceremony on promoting inclusive employment in Turkmenistan. It is one of the initiatives under the partnership between UNDP and CIDCA supported by South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF). The project will assist Turkmenistan to increase employment among people with hearing and visual impairment through training and creating new job opportunities, which will help Turkmenistan in achieving Sustainable Development Goals and ensure no one is left behind.

In August 2019, UNDP and the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), signed three agreements on post disaster restoration after Cyclone Idai in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique. In 2017, the Government of China under the SSCAF together with UNDP, supported recovery and reconstruction efforts for half a million people in five affected countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda.
