Free Training for Unemployed Young People as a Part of UNDP-EU Partnership Within ReLOaD2

The Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 2 (ReLOaD2), funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), invites unemployed young individuals to a free informal education program in the field of tailoring and sewing. 

 

The "Nahla" Education and Research Center from Sarajevo will organize and conduct a tailoring and sewing training for unemployed youth from the municipalities of Centar Sarajevo, Novo Sarajevo, Vitez, and East Sarajevo. The tailoring and sewing training is accredited by the Ministry of Education of Sarajevo Canton, providing participants with additional employment opportunities. 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY: 

 

  1. Participation in the training is open to unemployed individuals aged 18 to 30 who meet the following criteria: 

  2. Registered with the employment services/agency (proof of registration as an unemployed person) 

  3. Reside within the municipalities of Centar Sarajevo, Novo Sarajevo, Vitez, and East Sarajevo (proof of residence) 

 

TRAINING CONTENT: 

 

The tailoring and sewing training will cover 120 instructional hours across 6 areas: 

 

  • Basics of tailoring and sewing 

  • Sewing a skirt 

  • Sewing pants 

  • Sewing a blouse 

  • Sewing a dress 

  • Sewing a jacket 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

 

The training consists of theoretical and practical work, with continuous monitoring of individual progress through independent tasks and assignments that will serve as assessment material. 

 

The training organizers will provide all necessary materials for the participants. Upon successful completion of garment items in each module, participants will be deemed to: 

 

  • Know tools and equipment for work 

  • Understand textile materials, their structure, and behavior during processing 

  • Recommend materials based on aesthetic and functional model requirements 

  • Prepare materials and tools for specific tasks 

  • Properly handle tools and machines during work and maintain them 

  • Plan, organize, and execute the sequence of work operations 

  • Create a pattern based on measurements 

  • Transfer the pattern to the cutting surface 

  • Adjust and shorten finished garments 

  • Create simple items like handkerchiefs or pouches 

  • Sew a skirt following the sequence of operations 

  • Sew pants following the sequence of operations 

  • Sew a shirt following the sequence of operations 

  • Sew a dress following the sequence of operations 

  • Sew a jacket following the sequence of operations 

  • Plan corrections, identify errors, and correct them 

 

DURATION: 

 

The training will take place twice a week from September 18 to January 17, 2024, at the premises of the CEI "Nahla" located at Džemala Bijedića Street 122 in Sarajevo. The training will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays from 12:30 to 15:30. 

Upon completion of the training, participants who successfully pass the final exam will receive a Certificate of Completion or Qualification.
