Companies operating in the food sector have an important role to play in building a more resilient, efficient and responsible food system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Across the entire value chain — from production and processing to imports, distribution and bringing products to market — food surpluses, by-products and losses can occur and cannot always be avoided.

Some of this food can still retain value through better loss prevention, more efficient inventory management, reuse or processing, as well as through food donations to individuals and communities in need.

UNDP, in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is conducting a survey among companies operating in the sector to better understand where and why food surpluses occur, how they are currently managed, what barriers companies face when it comes to donation and redistribution, and what types of support would be most useful.

Insights from businesses will help ensure that future solutions respond to the actual needs of producers, processors, importers, distributors and other businesses across the agricultural and food value chain. They will also help us explore opportunities to reduce waste, make better use of resources and more effectively connect food surpluses with community needs.

We invite you to take a few minutes to share your company’s experience:
