| Partners and Stakeholders: | The key stakeholders, partners and/or responsible parties of this project will include the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives (MoLGRDC), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) and any other institution deemed necessary during this project’s lifecycle. For field-level activities, UNDP will engage NGOs/CBOs, academic/research institutions, Local Government Institutions (LGIs) and government departments through appropriate execution modalities. |

Background
The Plastics Circularity Project aims to address the critical issue of plastic waste management in ten countries across Asia. This initiative targets countries with varying levels of waste management infrastructure and plastic waste challenges.
The project is designed to support the transition to a circular economy by improving plastic waste management, promoting recycling, and reducing plastic leakage into the environment. By focusing on these targeted areas, the project will contribute to better public health, environmental protection, and the development of more sustainable waste management practices.
About the Project
The Management of Plastic Waste and Circular Interventions on Plastics in South, Southeast Asia and the Pacific is a three-year multi-country initiative supported by TCCF. It aims to strengthen plastic waste management systems and make the sector more inclusive and sustainable across ten countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Viet Nam.
The project strengthens stakeholder partnerships, develops plastics waste market system, establish gender-responsive traceability mechanisms, and drive targeted awareness campaigns and capacity-building for urban residents in Chattogram City Corporation, Cox’s Bazar, and Tangail Municipality. The initiative aims to collect and recycle at least 15,000 metric tons of plastic waste by strengthening collection, segregation, and recycling systems. It promotes inclusive, gender-responsive solutions that benefit vulnerable groups, particularly informal waste workers, and support shift toward sustainable plastic use.
