Angola Startup Ecosystem Mapping Report
Angola Startup Ecosystem Mapping Report
August 18, 2024
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), has released the Angola Startup Ecosystem Report under the “Meet the Tôshikas” programme. The initiative, led by UNDP’s Africa Sustainable Finance Hub (ASFH) in close collaboration with the UNDP Angola Country Office, aims to facilitate Japanese venture capital investment in Africa’s emerging startup ecosystem and support its sustainable growth.
Access to comprehensive and up-to-date information on Africa’s startup ecosystem remains limited. This lack of data makes it difficult for investors and private companies to make informed decisions about investment or partnerships, representing one of the key barriers to ecosystem development.
Using UNDP’s Ecosystem Development Approach, the study compiles and analyses information about startups and the entrepreneurial landscape in Angola, identifying their characteristics, opportunities, and challenges. The report offers a structured overview of the sector’s dynamics and proposes pathways to strengthen innovation, attract investment, and create a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship in the country.
