The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to host the Southern Africa Regional Workshop, scheduled to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 21–25 September 2026.
Established in 1992, the GEF Small Grants Programme is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on behalf of the GEF Partnership. The programme supports community-led initiatives that address global environmental challenges while promoting sustainable development. Its work focuses on five key environmental areas: biodiversity conservation, climate change, land degradation, international waters, and chemicals and waste management.
The Southern Africa Regional Workshop will bring together 40 participants from 11 countries—Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The workshop will provide a platform for National Coordinators to review achievements under Operational Phase 7 (OP7), share lessons learned and best practices, discuss implementation challenges, and strengthen collaboration as countries advance Operational Phase 8 (OP8).
Through this Call for Proposals, GEF SGP Zimbabwe seeks a qualified organization to plan and deliver the regional workshop, ensuring high-quality logistics, coordination and event management that facilitate knowledge exchange and regional collaboration.
Eligible applicants are invited to review the Call for Proposals and accompanying documents before submitting their applications by the specified deadline. Only proposals that meet the eligibility and technical requirements outlined in the solicitation documents will be considered.
