Building Climate Resilience of Vulnerable (GCF)

The Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ), in partnership with UNDP, is implementing a seven-year project, Building the climate resilience for vulnerable agricultural livelihoods in Southern Zimbabwe. The objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of agricultural livelihoods of vulnerable communities, particularly women, in southern Zimbabwe in the face of increasing climate risks and impacts.

Climate Adaptation Water and Energy Infrastructure Programme (CAWEP)

This project will support the development of climate resilient, multiple water use and renewable energy infrastructure in vulnerable communities of Zimbabwe to enable continued access to water for productive and household use, including during droughts and floods, and improved access to clean and affordable energy to support economic activities to support more sustainable livelihoods’ outcomes.

Climate Promise 2

Climate Promise supports countries to mobilize both public and private investments to realize NDC targets while also simultaneously achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. A key lesson from Climate Promise 1 was that more included NDCs tend to be more ambitious. Inclusive stakeholder engagement and strong partnerships will help deliver on NDCs while supporting all actors to be agents of change and continuing to advocate for ambition. The project will also empower marginalized groups, such as women and youth, to bring their unique voices, leadership, and skills to NDC implementation.

Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria

The Global Fund HIV grant (2021 - 2023) is designed Towards Ending AIDS as a Public Health Threat by 2030. The project is aligned with Zimbabwe's National Health Strategy (2021 - 2025) and the Zimbabwe HIV and AIDS Strategic Plan, ZNASP III (2021 - 2025). The project also aligns with the National Development Strategy 1, NDS 1 (2021 - 2025). In Zimbabwe, HIV prevalence by sex is most pronounced among young adults (those aged 20-24 years), in which HIV prevalence is three times higher among young women (8.1%) than young men (2.7%).

Zambezi Valley Biodiversity Project

Zimbabwe has a remarkably high level of biodiversity and is home to all the “Big Five”. However, the country faces challenges to sustainable development associated with biodiversity loss, ecosystem degradation, and consequences of climate change. The GEF 6 Project aims to promote an integrated landscape approach to managing wildlife resources, carbon, and ecosystem services in the face of climate change in the protected areas and community lands of Zimbabwe's Mid to Lower Zambezi Regions.
