Training materials on Marine Spatial Planning and Integrated Coastal Zone Management in Vietnam were compiled within the framework of the Project “National Marine Spatial Planning for Ocean Sustainability and Climate Change Response in Vietnam”, funded by the United Nations Development Programme and the Norwegian Embassy, ​​to provide planners, planners and managers of Vietnam’s marine areas with basic knowledge on marine spatial planning and integrated coastal zone management, as well as relevant experiences gained from different countries and localities in the world, especially experiences from the process of preparing National Marine Spatial Planning and implementing integrated coastal zone management in Vietnam. It is also a valuable reference for experts in marine and coastal resources, environment, and sustainable development.

This document was developed and completed by the United Nations Development Program in collaboration with the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands through several training courses on marine spatial planning and integrated coastal zone management in regions and areas of Vietnam.

The document and related training courses help strengthen the capacity of coastal provinces and cities of Vietnam in managing local resources, environment, and coastal zone development, supporting the effective implementation of the National Marine Spatial Planning, the Master Plan for the Exploitation and Sustainable Use of Coastal Resources, and the Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Marine Economy of Vietnam.
