September 30, 2024
The study “Internal Migration in the Red River and Mekong River Deltas: Current Issues and Policy Implications” aims to provide insights into three dimensions related to internal migration in the RRD and MRD, namely: (i) the drivers of migration; (ii) the challenges and opportunities faced by migrants regarding their livelihoods, access to public services, and social protection; and (iii) the policies and solutions needed to ensure the rights of migrants to be recognized, protected and respected. In this regard, the study provides policy implications to improve internal migration governance and policy recommendations to ensure the rights of migrants are respected at their destinations. The research was conducted by the Institute for Sustainable Development (under the National Economics University) and UNDP in Viet Nam, with funding from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through UNDP’s PAPI Research Programme.
