ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORT (ESIA)

October 13, 2025

The Project “Accelerating renewable energy development and strengthening climate resilience for enhanced human security and sustainable growth in Viet Nam” aims to support the advancement of renewable energy development in Viet Nam, with a particular focus on offshore wind power and solar photovoltaic systems integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Project seeks to foster a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition, while scaling up effective models for climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, capacity enhancement, and resilience building. In particular, the Project prioritizes strengthening human security, with a focus on women and vulnerable groups in climate-sensitive areas.
The Project is expected to directly benefit approximately 2,836 people, of whom half are women, and indirectly support around 64,000 people, also ensuring that women represent 50 percent of beneficiaries. Over a 20-year period (equivalent to the operational life cycle of the solar PV systems), the Project is estimated to contribute to the reduction of 92 tons of CO₂ emissions and substitute the demand for 1,111 tons of coal.
