Women’s entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan: assessment and recommendations
April 23, 2025
Women’s entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan has grown significantly in recent years, with 2.1 million women entrepreneurs operating in 2024 — a sevenfold increase since 2020. While challenges persist, particularly related to unpaid social care responsibilities and limited access to finance, national reforms and state support programmes have improved the commercial and legal environment for women. Recent data and consultations reveal strong entrepreneurial interest among women and highlight the need for targeted support — including access to finance, sector-specific training, and expanded social care services. Integrating gender-sensitive approaches across economic, legal, and social policy remains essential for sustaining and scaling women’s entrepreneurship in the country.
