The report explores labor employment issues in Uzbekistan: current situation, problems and possible solutions. The recent official statistics shows that economic growth in Uzbekistan did not go hand in hand with the rise in the number of sustainable jobs and employment. The report examines labor employment issues in the context of vulnerable groups of the population, including women, youth, informal employment and labor migration. The study shows that the low level of employment among women is associated with the low economic activity of women. Unemployment rate among youth considerably exceeds the level of unemployment among adults. Employment issues in the informal sector continue to lead to a number of negative consequences to the economy. High rates of the external labor migration have a serious impact on the labor market in Uzbekistan.
