Advancing Digital Transformation in Uzbekistan

Project summary:

“Advancing Digital Transformation in Uzbekistan” is a joint project of UNDP and the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which aims to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Uzbekistan to promote inclusive digital transformation.

Main objectives:

The project’s main objectives are: 1) enhancing capabilities of the key government institutions to advance digitalization agenda in a more inclusive, gender-sensitive, and holistic manner and 2) implementing small-scale digital solutions in the public and non-government sectors (healthcare, linguistics, diplomacy) to demonstrate the transformative effects and benefits of digital innovations.

Expected results:

  1. Inclusive digital transformation in Uzbekistan will be advanced with focus on advising the government and facilitating dialogue on integrating inclusiveness and equality principles into the national digital development agenda;
  2. Government’s capacity to work with digital data and AI will be enhanced;
  3. Longer-term and larger scale initiative on advancing digital transformation in Uzbekistan will be proposed with focus on inclusive digital and data governance, digital skills and competencies, digital platforms and innovations (digital healthcare, artificial intelligence) jointly with MITC, E-Government Projects Management Center, IT Park, Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
