May 16, 2022 Tashkent, Uzbekistan. An introductory tour for 10 startuppers of Karakalpakstan to Tashkent, organized by the Youth Union of Karakalpakstan with the support of UNDP, has started today. The trip was initiated in support to start-up entrepreneurs and aimed at creating a favorable environment for studying the experience of running business projects by successful entrepreneurs of Tashkent, sharing knowledge and features of launching startups in various areas.

From December 2021 to March 2022, UNDP trained over 70 women and youth representatives from the Bozatau, Kungrad, Muynak districts and the city of Nukus on the development of startups in the economic, environmental, and social areas. At the end of the online course, all its participants were divided into 17 teams to develop their own startup projects to be presented at the Contest for the best startup of Karakalpakstan. Following the results of the voting, the selection committee approved 7 projects out of 17 submitted for co-financing. All winners will receive technical assistance to implement their ideas within the framework of the Joint Programme "Unleashing young people’s and vulnerable citizens’ creativity and innovation by strengthening their adaptive capacity to address the economic and food insecurities in the exposed communities of the Aral Sea region".

At the same time, to support the teams that were not selected for the final stage of the competition, it was decided to organize a two-day study tour to expand the opportunities of young startuppers in finalizing their ideas and creating favorable conditions for further market research. As examples of successful business initiatives, guests from Karakalpakstan these days meet with the founders of such projects as "Book-café", "Dekos", "Deli", visit the sites of innovative ideas as "IT-academy Astrum" and "IT-park".

- I am delighted to be among the 10 successful startuppers of Karakalpakstan who came to Tashkent to exchange experience and gain knowledge from the most successful entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan. We really like it here. Now we are in the Impulse business hub. This platform is designed for networking. There are a lot of areas for work – both rooms and conference halls, which is convenient for startups. I believe that I and other startuppers will definitely be able to prove themselves and show the best results, says Asal Dauletmuratova, participant of the startup development programme in Karakalpakstan.
