The publication will be useful to representatives of the governmental, Ukrainian and international non-commercial mine action operators, commercial operators, governmental, international, and civil society organizations working in mine action and interested in veterans’ involvement in the sector. It is especially relevant for heads of mine action operators, HR and communications managers, as well as units, departments and field team leaders.
The publication outlines employer responsibilities and highlights the opportunities related to hiring veterans, including legislative requirements and state support programmes. The Guide also describes the employment and job placement processes, from candidate sourcing to creating a favorable working environment creation, and workplace adaptation, if necessary.
The Guide includes a set of useful checklists for employers, covering veterans’ recruitment and hiring, self-assessment and change planning to foster a respectful and inclusive working environment, as well as a list of veteran organizations for vacancy dissemination.
The Guide was developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine within the framework of the “Supporting Inclusive Recovery for Resilience and Human Security in Ukraine” project, with financial support from the Government of Japan, at the request of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, and in cooperation with the NGO “Free People Employment Center” and Demine Ukraine, in support of the National Mine Action Strategy of Ukraine up to 2033.
The views, comments, conclusions and recommendations expressed in this publication are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of UNDP, the Ministry of Economy, or the Government of Japan.
