Inclusive Recovery Support for Resilience and Human Security in Ukraine

Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Government of Japan and UNDP strengthened their partnership to support Ukraine's resilience and recovery. This initiative marks the fourth phase of Japan-funded UNDP projects, designed to promote rapid recovery and strengthen resilience while laying the foundation for an inclusive and sustainable future for the people of Ukraine, grounded in the principles of human security.
The project focuses on restoring basic infrastructure, expanding mine action efforts, managing debris and promoting recycling practices, strengthening governance, extending legal services to war victims and vulnerable groups, and supporting economic recovery.
Project goals:
Restore critical infrastructures and facilities to meet the immediate needs of war-affected people. | |
Clear debris and environmentally hazardous materials and establish debris management and recycling systems. | |
Expand the capacities of mine action authorities and emergency service responders to reduce explosive ordnance (EO) risks and provide targeted assistance to war-affected populations, including veterans and EO victims. | |
Promote economic recovery by supporting self-employment and entrepreneurship, expanding inclusive employment, and improving the business enabling environment for war-affected populations. | |
Strengthen the integrity and transparency of government mechanisms and processes for crisis management and recovery processes, at both the national and local levels. | |
Strengthen the capacities of justice and human rights institutions to provide accessible, people-centred and gender-sensitive justice for war-affected and vulnerable populations. |
