Ashgabat, 23 April 2026: Within the framework of the joint project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan “Developing National Capacity through Improving Regulatory Environment towards Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building Sector,” a training seminar titled “Exploring International Experience in Developing Regulatory Frameworks for the Implementation of Innovative Energy-Efficient Technologies in the Construction Sector” was held in Ashgabat on 22–23 April 2026.

The seminar brought together academic staff and students from the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute (TSACI, Ashgabat), the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (SEIT, Mary), specialists from the Scientific and Production Center “Renewable Energy Sources” under SEIT, as well as UNDP experts, international consultants, and representatives of the European Union project “Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia” (SECCA).

The seminar aimed to explore international experience in updating building codes and developing regulatory frameworks for the adoption of innovative energy-efficient technologies, as well as to enhance the professional knowledge of participants.

During the presentations, European countries’ experience in developing regulatory frameworks for the construction of residential and public buildings with near-zero energy consumption was shared. Participants also learned about international practices in designing civil buildings with efficient energy use.
