Oé-Cusse, East Timor (September 29th, 2021): As part of the tourism and hospitality capacity building programme under the SAR-ZEESM Tourism Project, thirteen (13) young persons will participate in an upcoming tour guide training program in Oé-Cusse. This follows a similar tour guide training that took place in 2019 for 25 persons, and under this same project 108 persons were trained in August 2021 in hospitality and jewelry making.

This 3-day tour guide training will be facilitated by the East Timor Development Agency (ETDA) and will be held from September 29th to October 1st at the SRESS Conference Room in Pante Macassar. The training is organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Community Tourism Unit, under the Office of the President’s Authority RAEOA ZEESM TL.

During the first two (2) days participants will focus on getting to know the tourism product, the importance of a good personality, how to collect tourism information, and preparing coordinating and leading an organized tour. On the third day participants will work on designing tour packages, followed by a practical exercise in the field.  Here participants will apply their newly learnt skills and knowledge to conduct practice tours. The training will then end with a certificate ceremony.
