Representatives of the Ministry of Education Visited the Summer School of Programming in Sremska Mitrovica
August 18, 2025
Sremska Mitrovica, August 18, 2025 – Representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia visited students attending the Summer School of Programming today. This year, the school is being held for the fourth time in Sremska Mitrovica.
The Summer School of Programming is organized in two shifts, and the current one is intended for students who have already attended the program. It includes more advanced programming topics, as well as extracurricular lectures on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other relevant IT fields. This year, 40 students are participating in this shift, selected based on recommendations from teachers and mentors from previous editions of the program.
During the visit, Slađana Nikolić, Chief of Cabinet of the Minister of Education, addressed the participants: “In today’s world, digital and programming skills are becoming one of the most important prerequisites for success, regardless of the career path you choose. Equally important is what you gain outside the classroom here – teamwork, sharing experiences, mutual support, and friendships that will stay with you long after the school ends.”
The Summer School of Programming is designed for elementary and high school students, tailored to their current level of knowledge. In addition to acquiring new programming skills, the aim of the school is to encourage collaborative learning and the exchange of ideas among participants, as well as to motivate them to further develop in technology-related fields.
From 2022 to 2024, more than 300 students from different parts of Serbia took part in the Summer School of Programming.
The Summer School of Programming is organized by the Petlja Foundation, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme and the Ministry of Education and with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, within the project “Building Key Computer Competences – Towards the Workforce of the Future.”
