Over 320 teachers and students enhanced digital skills through the Putujuća Petlja caravan
January 13, 2026
The Putujuća Petlja Caravan has successfully completed its journey, visiting 12 cities and municipalities across Serbia. At the end of 2024, the caravan stopped in Kragujevac, Novi Pazar, and Subotica, and from October to December 2025, it traveled through Čačak, Valjevo, Niš, Kruševac, Sombor, Belgrade, Bačka Topola, Smederevo, and Kraljevo. The goal of this initiative, carried out by the Petlja Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Education and in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was to bring modern digital skills and their classroom applications closer to teachers and students.
Through workshops, 131 computer science teachers from different parts of the country explored new features of the Petlja platform, including an integrated AI assistant that simplifies lesson preparation, activity planning, and student support. At the same time, 195 students took part in creative programming workshops. The theme of these workshops was computer graphics with modeling, giving participants the opportunity to create 3D simulations and program characters for video games. Exposure to modern technologies and hands-on tasks further sparked their curiosity and interest in digital skills.
“The Putujuća Petlja Caravan has shown how important it is to ensure equal learning opportunities everywhere, and how investing in teachers’ and students’ digital competencies contributes to the quality and inclusiveness of education. Although the caravan has ended, the knowledge and motivation gained continue to live on through schools and communities, helping build an education system ready for the challenges of the future,” said Jelena Ružičić, UNDP Programme Specialist, Good Governance and Inclusive Growth.
Milan Simić, Director of the Petlja Foundation, shared his perspective on the significance of this Caravan:
“Activities like Putujuća Petlja are an excellent way to connect with teachers from different cities, exchange experiences, understand their needs, and present our platform and tools. Feedback from high school students who participated in the workshops confirms that they acquired new, useful, and relevant knowledge. That’s why we look forward to future opportunities for similar initiatives.”
The Putujuća Petlja Caravan was organized by the Petlja Foundation as part of the project “Building Key Computing Competencies – Towards the Workforce of the Future,” implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
