Deputy Resident Representative
Mr. Anas Qarman joined the UN system in 2001. During the period from 2001-2012 he worked for several UN agencies. He started his career with UNHCR in Jordan as a national officer. Following the conflict in the region he supported in the preparedness efforts for the possible large-scale population movements within Iraq and into neighbouring countries.
In addition to his work with UNICEF and UNOCHA, Mr. Qarman worked with UNOPS Office in Iraq and Yemen between 2012-214, acting Head of Programme and Operations lead for the Ashraf camp project. He also provided support to the Office of the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen and the transitional Yemen National Dialogue Secretariat.
In 2014 Mr. Qarman worked for UNDP Bangladesh in a capacity of Head of Integrated Services, he acted as advisor to the Senior Management on all aspects of the Country Office management and operations. During his stint he successfully piloted the first mobile financial service for the Country Office enabling the office to reach to unbanked beneficiaries and promoting financial inclusion.
Before joining Serbia Country Office, Mr. Qarman served in interim as Head of Service Center and Operations Manager for UNDP Iraq, he extended operational support for the Funding Facility for Stabilization (FFS), as of July 2019 FFS has completed over 2,000 projects, with strong donor support and contributions and pledges exceed 1 Billion USD.
Mr. Qarman has a degree in Agriculture Science from Jordan University of Science & Technology, Human Resources Management Diploma and Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology.
