Partnerships for Climate and Energy Action
The UNDP Rome Centre aims to build partnerships capable of turning ideas into tangible results for climate action and a just energy transition. The Centre works to leverage the engagement of the Italian and international ecosystem, promoting synergies and creating opportunities in UNDP programme countries through the strategic involvement of public and private actors.

What We Look For
We build partnerships that can generate real added value for climate action and the energy transition. We look for public and private actors that view collaboration as a shared commitment and are ready to contribute ideas, expertise and knowledge to the achievement of common objectives.
We prioritize partners that can promote new knowledge, innovation and pathways to scale through research, implementation capacity, networking or influence, in support of the programmatic initiatives carried out by the UNDP Rome Centre. Integrity and alignment with UN principles are essential, as partnerships must reflect fairness, transparency and responsible engagement.
Above all, we seek collaborations that can generate lasting results, going beyond individual projects and expanding over time for the benefit of an increasing number of countries and communities.
Areas of Collaboration
Our collaborations focus on activities that strengthen both the global climate agenda and concrete results at country level. One of the key pillars is the production of expertise that supports more informed decision-making, from research and evidence to practical learning that can be applied by governments and institutions.
We work with our partners to develop the skills and technical capacities needed to drive change, including through training, leadership development and peer-to-peer learning across different regions. Youth engagement is a priority, as long-term climate solutions require younger generations to be placed at the centre of policies, innovation and implementation.
We also collaborate to test and scale new ideas, technologies and models that can accelerate the energy transition in a fair and inclusive way. Finally, we facilitate dialogue and cooperation across regions, helping our partners connect, share experiences and define more resilient policies oriented towards sustainable development.
Private Sector
The Rome Centre works with private sector actors that can contribute expertise, innovation and operational capacity to advance climate action and the energy transition. Business partners play an essential role in turning policy ambition into concrete results through technical expertise, financing, market knowledge and scalable solutions.
In this framework, our engagement focuses on identifying areas of common interest and building collaborations that can respond to the needs of partner countries, strengthen programme implementation and expand the reach and impact of UNDP’s work.
Our partners work with us to:
• Access information on UNDP procurement pipelines and available opportunities
• Co-create, test and scale solutions that translate research and market innovation into concrete climate action
• Develop strategic investment partnerships and targeted B2B matchmaking activities aimed at mobilizing capital and fostering collaboration
• Participate in executive-level dialogues, joint learning and capacity development in the energy, climate and environment sectors
