East Jerusalem – The Government of the Republic of Korea and the United Nations Development Programme/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP) have launched the second phase of the R.E.V.I.V.E Project, continuing their partnership to support crisis-affected Palestinian communities in Gaza.

With an allocation of USD 7.76 million, R.E.V.I.V.E II builds on the achievements and lessons of the first phase, with a continued focus on transitional shelter, essential services and integrated neighbourhood-level recovery, helping create the conditions for Palestinians to remain on or return to their communities in safer and more dignified conditions.

The first phase of R.E.V.I.V.E translated the Republic of Korea’s support into concrete early recovery results across Gaza. It provided 950 wooden tents and 945 Relief Housing Units (RHUs) as shelter; deployed 24 RHUs as medical service points reaching an estimated 135,000 people; and improved access to water and sanitation through 380 mobile latrines, 438 water tanks and the rehabilitation of priority groundwater wells.

R.E.V.I.V.E I also supported safer and cleaner living environments, with 18,100 tonnes of debris collected and 9,224 tonnes processed, alongside 18,000 cubic metres of solid waste collected and rodent and vector-control activities at 2,824 locations. Processed debris was reused to rehabilitate 87,500 square metres of roads and shelter sub-base areas, connecting immediate response with practical recovery efforts.

Building on these efforts, R.E.V.I.V.E II will contribute to UNDP’s broader Gaza Neighbourhood Programme, which brings together transitional shelter, debris removal, basic infrastructure, essential services and livelihoods support within the same communities. The approach aims to help Palestinians remain on or return to their areas of origin by progressively restoring the conditions that make neighbourhoods functional — connecting shelter with water and sanitation, health, education and economic opportunities.

R.E.V.I.V.E II will take these efforts forward through a more integrated approach to early recovery. Recognizing that shelter alone is not enough, the new phase will connect transitional shelter with essential services and neighbourhood-level interventions, supporting communities to restore access to the basic services and infrastructure needed for recovery.

Together, R.E.V.I.V.E I and II reflect the continued partnership between the Republic of Korea and UNDP, linking immediate support with longer-term recovery and helping crisis-affected Palestinian communities move towards safer and more dignified living conditions.
