The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is pleased to announce an open call for civil society organizations (CSOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), and academic institutions to nominate qualified candidates for membership in the SGP National Steering Committee (NSC).

The NSC is the principal decision-making body of the SGP at the country level. It provides overall oversight, strategic guidance, and direction for the implementation of the SGP Country Programme.

The principal roles and responsibilities of NSC members include:

• Providing overall guidance and strategic direction for the Country Programme, including contributing to the development, implementation, periodic review, and revision of the SGP Country Programme Strategy (CPS). 
• Reviewing and approving project proposals in alignment with the CPS, following participatory, democratic, impartial, and transparent procedures and in accordance with the SGP Operational Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. 
• Providing technical guidance for project oversight and implementation at the country level, in accordance with the relevant SGP Project Document, including participation in project monitoring and evaluation activities, such as field visits. 
• Supporting the alignment of SGP operations with relevant global, regional, and national policies and strategies, including those of the GEF and other co-financing partners. 
• Supporting partnership development and resource mobilization efforts for the SGP at both project and country levels. 
• Supporting efforts to scale up successful SGP initiatives and mainstream lessons learned and good practices into national development planning and policymaking.
