OUR FOCUS

Albania and UNDP in action

Integrated development solutions driven by country priorities and UNDP’s new Strategic Plan.

UNDP began its operations in Albania in 1991 based on the Standard Basic Framework Agreement concluded with the Government of Albania. In 2021 UNDP marked its 30 years of presence in country.

UNDP  is a member of the United Nations Country Team in Albania and is part  of a single, coherent plan for all 19 UN agencies, funds and programmes titled: Albania-United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2026  which combines the expertise of diverse UN Agencies, working together to contribute to Albania’s development priorities.

UNDP Programe is well aligned and clearly reflect Albania’s development priorities articulated in the National Strategy for Development and Integration as well as in the Albania-United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022-2026. Our Programme is well aligned with UNDP Global Strategic Plan and contributed towards the European Union Integration Agenda through several European Union acquis chapters. The Programme contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals.

Our three programme pillars

Building on UNDP’s 30 years of presence and expertise in Albania, we aim to expand people’s choices for  a fairer, sustainable future with people and planet in balance.

UNDP’s programme in Albania  contributed towards Accession to the European Union and  achievement of  Sustainable Development Goals.
