This factsheet presents key findings from the study Aging in Albania — Insights into Long-Term Care for Older Adults (2025), developed by UNDP Albania in the framework of the UN JP “Lifelong Empowerment and Protection in Albania” funded by SDG Fund. It offers a snapshot of the realities faced by older persons in Albania, and the institutional landscape, highlighting growing care and support needs, gender and regional disparities, financial and social challenges, and critical gaps in long-term care services, skills and job opportunities. The data reveal that while most older persons prefer to age at home, many lack access to caregivers, affordable support services, transportation, and specialized healthcare. The factsheet also sheds light on the pressures faced by families and care providers, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen community-based care systems, improve service accessibility, and promote dignity and inclusion for Albania’s aging population.
