JAMAICA SIGNS UNDP STANDARD BASIC AGREEMENT: The Chief Technical Director of the National Planning Agency, Dr. G. G. Bonnick, (right) and the UNDP Resident Representative in Jamaica, Mr. R. J. The United Nations Development Programme Standard Basic Agreement which consolidates all UNDP programmes, was signed yesterday (26 January 1976) between Jamaica and the UNDP, at the offices of the National Planning Agency in New Kingston. 

Signatories to the Agreement were Dr. G. G. Bonnick, Chief Technical Director of the Agency, on behalf of Jamaica and Mr. R. J. Crooks, UNDP’s Resident Representative. The Agreement embodies the basic conditions under which the UNDP and its agencies shall assist participating governments in implementing plans and programmes, and the terms under which such programmes shall be executed. 

The programmes which were previously executed as individual agreements include the UN Special Fund Agreement, the Operational Personnel Assistance Scheme, (OPAS) and the UN Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (UNEPTA).
