Kyiv, 9 July 2025 — Two new "Made in Ukraine" business-support offices have opened their doors in Vyshhorod and Sofiivska Borshchahivka, both suburbs of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The new offices, designed to support entrepreneurs, were established with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the Government of Japan, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Employment Service, the Kyiv Regional Employment Centre and the Centre for CSR Development NGO.

The primary goal of these offices is to offer practical assistance to entrepreneurs. This includes providing consultations, educational courses, and information on government grant programmes. They also facilitate interaction between businesses and the government. Beyond practical support, the centres serve as dynamic hubs for networking, skill development, and expert advice on starting and growing a business. On top of that, they provide crucial information about grants and financial support programmes from international partners.

Kyiv Oblast has seen a significant increase in the number of small and medium-sized enterprises since the full-scale invasion. According to the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Kyiv Oblast, as of the beginning of 2024, a total of 210,600 business entities were registered in the region, a 15.8% increase compared to early 2021. Notably, Borshachivska Hromada (community) is among the top five in Kyiv Oblast for small business numbers, boasting approximately 12,000 enterprises.

Given that a substantial number of registered businesses in the region are located within the capital's communities, these newly renovated "Made in Ukraine" offices will play a crucial role in helping both experienced and new entrepreneurs adapt quickly and thrive.

There are now 90 “Made in Ukraine” offices operating across various regions, all contributing to the sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses at both the national and local levels. Of these, 13 were launched with the assistance of UNDP in Ukraine and the Government of Japan.

During the opening, Valentyna Rybalko, Deputy Director of the State Employment Centre, emphasized the broader mission of the new centres. “We’re opening ‘Made in Ukraine’ offices not just as service platforms, but as a space of opportunities and support,” Rybalko said. “Today, in wartime conditions, every initiative that helps people believe in themselves and start their own business is extremely important. Micro, small and medium-sized businesses today are not only about the economy; they’re about dignity, community resilience, about how Ukrainians are able to build the future despite threats. We see how entrepreneurs, both experienced and newcomers, are eager for knowledge. The first ‘Made in Ukraine’ office was opened in March 2024 in Sumy. Today there are already 90 of them, and during this time, more than 102,000 consultations and services have been provided.”

Vladlen Sysun, UNDP Project Coordinator, highlighted the collaborative effort: “The opening of these offices in Vyshhorod and Sofiivska Borshchahivka is a testament to our shared commitment to supporting Ukrainian entrepreneurship,” Sysun said. “UNDP and our partners — the Government of Japan, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Employment Service — believe that by providing access to knowledge, resources and community, we not only help individual businesses but also contribute to the economic recovery and sustainable development of communities, which is key to the future of Ukraine.”

Kateryna Liudvik, project manager of the Centre for CSR Development NGO, spoke about the impact of the new offices on entrepreneurs: “First and foremost, I want to thank our partners, whose support made it possible to open offices,” Liudvik said. “Entrepreneurs today are not just drivers of the economy; they are people who create jobs, support communities, ensure local production, and choose to stay in Ukraine, rebuilding it every day. We have been working on the development and support of women's entrepreneurship for several years. During this time, we’ve seen how many women are ready to start a business. But to do this, they need simple things: access to knowledge and support at the start. Offices like ‘Made in Ukraine’ provide exactly this kind of support."
