New York - The International Criminal Court (ICC) and UNDP have signed a new Framework Agreement that will facilitate UNDP’s operational support to the ICC worldwide. UNDP’s operational services are expected to help the ICC implement its programmes and activities more efficiently and effectively in the field. This support will be critical to ensuring the ICC can continue to investigate and prosecute the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.

During the recent visit of the ICC Registrar to UNDP, the Administrator Steiner welcomed the opportunity to strengthen its partnership with the ICC, saying “UNDP’s well-established operational footprint can help partners such as the ICC more cost effectively operate in challenging environments. Our excellent relationship with the ICC will help us respond to their needs in the field, while continuing to pursue our joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, particularly access to justice for all (SDG 16) and strengthening partnerships (SDG 17).”

The Client Services Division within UNDP’s Bureau for Management Services, Office of Budget, Performance and Compliance (BMS/BPC) is responsible with overseeing the formation and administration of the new corporate Agreement. “The Bureau for Management Services employs a client-responsive and value-for-money approach that our staff incorporate into agreements such as this one,” said Angelique Crumbly, BMS Assistant Administrator and BMS Director. “We look forward to implementing the new UNDP-ICC Framework Agreement and supporting the ICC and strengthening our partnership in the years to come.”
