Lead (Pb) exposure, even at low levels, has been linked to serious health implications, including irreversible cognitive and neurological damage, particularly among children. With the alarming evidence that a substantial number of children in Mongolia may suffer from lead poisoning, there is an evident need for action. This Legal Environment Assessment (LEA) has uncovered significant gaps in the current regulatory approach to lead in paints. The LEA evaluates the impact of lead exposure from paint in Mongolia and offers a framework for addressing the associated public health risks. With a focus on establishing a more protective regulatory environment, this LEA report builds upon Mongolia’s existing commitments to global sustainability goals and health protections to propose a comprehensive policy roadmap tailored to the national context.
