What You Need to Know About Bees

May 20, 2026

These materials present educational resources on bees and bee hotels in Lebanon, developed as part of environmental conservation efforts supported by UNDP, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, and the Ministry of Environment. They introduce bee hotels as practical interventions that provide safe nesting spaces for solitary pollinators, which are essential for maintaining biodiversity and supporting ecosystems. By helping pollinators thrive, these initiatives aim to strengthen food security and ecological resilience, especially in the face of threats like habitat loss, climate change, pollution, and unsustainable practices.

The documents also serve as awareness tools to highlight the importance of bee biology, life cycles, and species diversity in Lebanon, which hosts over 700 species of wild bees. Through informative visuals and explanations, they promote understanding of the critical role pollinators play and encourage community engagement in conservation. Overall, the objective of these materials is to foster sustainable environmental practices, protect pollinator populations, and support long-term biodiversity conservation in Lebanon.
