A Pathway Towards a Climate Resilient Economy: Lebanon’s Long Term - Low Emission Development Strategy

October 6, 2025

Lebanon’s Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS) is an economy-wide policy framework that charts a sustainable pathway toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy by mid-century, in line with Lebanon’s national circumstance and its commitments under the Paris Agreement. The LT-LEDS outlines tentative ranges and targets for 2050 under various development pathways, elaborating on sector-specific mitigation and adaptation actions with their needed financial investments while integrating social, economic, and environmental considerations. It also presents the wide range of benefits that such a strategy brings to Lebanon and outlines the  necessary steps, stakeholders’ roles, and the overall strategic approach moving forward towards a more sustainable and climate resilient future.
