Breaking the Silence of Violence Against Women in Politics

July 27, 2022

Violence Against Women in Politics is widely acknowledged as a violation of women's political rights and a significant obstacle to their representation in politics.

In order to remedy the lack of available data on VAWP in Lebanon, UNDP partnered with Madanyat and Maharat Foundation to document women's experiences in politics in a report entitled “Breaking the Silence of Violence Against Women in Politics”.

The report includes findings of 4 focus groups conducted in Beirut, Mount Lebanon and South governorates, aiming to provide quantitative and qualitative data on VAWP that could help identify measures to eradicate this human rights deficit.

This activity is funded by the European Union, United States Agency for International Development, German Cooperation and Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.
