Inclusive Political Participation and Economic Recovery
At UNDP, we see the political empowerment of women, youth and persons with disabilities as central to strengthening inclusive governance and the legitimacy of public institutions. This means supporting free, fair and transparent elections and expanding opportunities for these groups to participate in political and decision-making processes, while working to address the barriers that limit their representation, voice and influence.
Through our long-standing support to parliamentary and local elections, spanning six electoral cycles since 2009, we contribute to strengthening the foundations for democratic participation and accountable institutions. This is complemented by our engagement with national institutions, civil society and other stakeholders to advance reforms and foster more inclusive, participatory and evidence-based decision-making.
