Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Commission for Lebanese Women and UNDP

Beirut, 1 May 2026 – The National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), represented by its President, First Lady Mrs. Nehmat Aoun, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), represented by Ms. Blerta Aliko, Resident Representative in Lebanon, in the presence of Ambassador Sahar Baassiri Salam, Vice President of the Commission, members of the Commission, and a UNDP delegation.
This agreement aims to advance gender equality and empower women and girls in Lebanon, while contributing to inclusive, rights-based development outcomes in line with national priorities and international commitments.
The Memorandum of Understanding seeks to strengthen coordination and partnership between NCLW and UNDP in areas of mutual interest, including promoting women’s political participation and leadership, supporting women’s economic empowerment, and raising awareness and advocating for women’s rights in personal status laws. It also focuses on strengthening institutional capacities to advance gender-responsive policies, legislation, and programmes.
