UNDP Fact Sheet on Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Disaster Risk Management 2026

July 3, 2026

UNDP supports the Kyrgyz Republic in moving from climate ambition to practical implementation. Working with national institutions, development partners, civil society and communities, UNDP helped strengthen the country’s climate governance, planning, financing, reporting and local resilience. This support was anchored in the Kyrgyz Republic’s commitments under the Paris Agreement. As the designated UN integrator under the Common UN Approach to Climate Action, UNDP helped bring the UN system behind a coherent national climate agenda, led by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision and coordinated with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office. The first major step was to strengthen the country’s national climate planning. UNDP supported the update of the Nationally Determined Contribution, NDC 3.0 — the Kyrgyz Republic’s main climate commitment under the Paris Agreement. More than 1,000 stakeholders, including women, youth and persons with disabilities, contributed through consultations and digital platforms. This helped ensure that national climate priorities are informed not only by technical analysis, but also by the needs and perspectives of society.
