Bishkek, September 15, 2023 – The Research Center for Religious Affairs of the State Commission on Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (hereinafter referred to as the RCRA), with the support of the UNDP project in Kyrgyzstan, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, conducted a two-day training for employees on data collection and analysis for monitoring the religious situation in the country.

The objectives of the training were to enhance the process of collecting and analyzing data and indicators to improve the assessment of the situation in the religious sphere with the aim of early conflict prevention, taking into account conflict-sensitive approaches. The trainers for this event were experts in peacebuilding, Zakir Chotaev and Sanzharbek Tajimatov

UNDP Kyrgyzstan’s support for the RCRA is part of the implementation of the State Policy Concept of the Kyrgyz Republic in the religious sphere for 2021-2026, the goal of which is to improve mechanisms for ensuring secularism, freedom of conscience and religion, development of state-confessional cooperation, and regulation of the activities of religious organizations.

This initiative is aimed at enhancing the quality of decisions made and timely conflict prevention based on the analysis of monitoring data, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the state and dynamics of the religious situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
