A Courtesy Visit to Strengthen the LCBC-UNDP Partnership in West and Central Africa

The UNDP Director of the Sub-regional Hub for West and Central Africa and Resident Representative for Senegal, Njoya Tikum, has paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and Head of Mission of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), His Excellency Ibrahim Babani.
H.E. Ambassador Babani took over from H.E. Ambassador Mamman Nuhu on Monday, 16 March 2026, in N’Djamena, Chad. Representatives of Member States, senior officials of the LCBC and the MNJTF, partners and staff attended the handover ceremony.
During the courtesy visit, Njoya Tikum took the opportunity to commend and appreciate the outgoing Executive Secretary for his exemplary leadership and dedication to ensuring peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin.
“Continuity of leadership is vital as we work together with the United Nations Development Programme to strengthen resilience, restore livelihoods, and support lasting stability across the Lake Chad Basin.” Njoya Tikum remarked, expressing his pleasure in meeting both the incoming and the outgoing leadership of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
