Law enforcement agencies across the country participating in trainings on how to respond to violations during parliamentary elections

On September 30 – October 9 2021 Kyrgyzstan Electoral Support Programme of UNDP and the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic organized trainings for law enforcement government agencies on methods and procedures of violations  respond during the parliamentary elections. The first training took place in Bishkek with the participation of the Head of the CEC Nurzhan Shaildabekova, representatives of the Chui regional police department, the State Committee for National Security and the prosecutor's office.

The participants of the training got acquainted with the new peculiarities of the elections of deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, and the tasks of the Coordination Group for Rapid Response, updated the methods of investigating crimes and criminal liability for violations of electoral legislation.

“For voters, the main thing is the possibility of free choice, for candidates - equal legal conditions. If these two conditions are met in the country, it means that free, legal and democratic elections are taking place in the country. Law enforcement agencies, while ensuring law and order, should take into account that the main criteria for elections is equal treatment of all participants of the electoral process, regardless of political or other affiliation”, - said Nurzhan Shaildabekova, Head of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic during her session on the training in Bishkek.

Participants of the training will also learn a comparative table on the editions of the Kyrgyz Republic codes in terms of violation of electoral rights, bribery of votes, violation of the procedure for financing the election campaign, and much more. In total, over 540 representatives of law enforcement agencies from 7 regions of the country will be outreached by the trainings of the CEC and UNDP.

Elections to the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic under the new mixed electoral system will take place on November 28, 2021. The Central Election Commission, with the support of the UNDP Election Support Program and other partners, started national information campaign for the population, as well as providing trainings for all participants of the electoral process.

The UNDP Election Support Program in the Kyrgyz Republic, with financial assistance from the Governments of Japan, Germany and Switzerland, is supporting the Central Election Commission in technical equipment, conducting trainings and information campaigns on the electoral process until the end of 2021.
