Bishkek, June 4, 2026 — Today, the closing ceremony of the three-month Anti-Corruption School for corruption prevention officers (compliance officers) of state bodies took place in Bishkek. The School was organized by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the UNDP project "Strengthening People-Centered Anti-Corruption and Accountability Efforts in the Kyrgyz Republic," with financial support from the U.S. Department of State (through the INL Bureau).
The Anti-Corruption School is aimed at enhancing the professional competence of authorized corruption prevention officers, developing practical skills in identifying and assessing corruption risks, introducing modern preventive mechanisms and compliance systems, and fostering a culture of integrity within the civil service.
The training was hosted at the Law Academy of the General Prosecutor’s Office, featuring international and national experts, and was successfully implemented in three stages from April to June 2026. The certificate award ceremony was attended by Zalkarbek Aknazarov, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic; Jonathan Brands, Acting Head of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic; and UNDP representatives.

Patrick Haverman, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, congratulated the graduates of the School and highlighted the significance of the initiative:
"The United Nations Development Programme is proud to support the Kyrgyz Republic in advancing anti-corruption reforms and implementing the State Strategy on Combating Corruption for 2025–2030. Through our partnership with the General Prosecutor’s Office and other national stakeholders, we continue to support capacity development, policy reforms, research, and initiatives aimed at strengthening integrity and accountability across public institutions. The Anti-Corruption School is an important contribution to these broader efforts. We hope that each participant will apply the acquired knowledge in their respective institutions, contribute to strengthening compliance systems, and serve as champions of integrity and professionalism."
Combating corruption is of paramount importance for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16, which emphasizes the creation of effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions. Anti-corruption measures are a cornerstone of good governance, helping to accelerate sustainable development and ensure equal opportunities for all citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
UNDP in the Kyrgyz Republic will continue to support the strengthening of the state's anti-corruption efforts in close partnership with the General Prosecutor’s Office and other national partners.
