UNDP and the Municipality of Prizren marked the closing of the “E Du Prizrenin” Campaign
November 10, 2023
Last evening, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo together with the Municipality of Prizren marked the closing of the “E Du Pz” awareness-raising campaign at the Shani Efendi House, a traditional residence in the heart of Prizren.
The ceremony was the culmination of an ambitious and impactful campaign aimed at unveiling the historical treasures of the city through a QR code initiative. This innovative endeavour integrated digital information boards across 15 historical sites, connecting visitors to comprehensive details available at www.eduprizrenin.com.
It brought together local and international stakeholders including Mayor Shaqir Totaj, Yuliya Shcherbinina, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, guests, participants of the campaign and municipal and UNDP representatives.
The expansive social media presence attracted around 70 active participants with more than 150 entries engaging in the contest on Facebook and Instagram, particularly within the local community. The public actively participated by sharing, following, and contributing content, fostering a sense of collective ownership and enthusiasm. Local photographers contributed materials that became the cornerstone of the campaign's visual content, portraying a fresh, vibrant perspective of a city brimming with untold stories.
From all the applications that were submitted with the hashtag #edupz, the top 12 photos were selected. These were evaluated by the public who was asked to vote for five days and select the winning photos. The following are the winners by popular vote: 1. Artan Misini - Prizren Fortress; 2. Furkan Drvenica – Shatërvan Fountain; and 3. Şenad Kahraman - Prizren landscape.
The campaign's logo - "E Du Prizrenin" hashtag - was swiftly embraced by the local basketball team and smaller private enterprises. It found its way into various sectors and activities, indicating its potential to expand its influence across different domains.
Looking ahead, "E Du Prizrenin" envisions continued collaboration to leverage the potential of cultural heritage tourism, sustainable development, and job creation in Prizren. Plans are underway to expand the digital platform, potentially incorporating information on hospitality services, catering, and cultural events for both tourists and residents.
The success of the campaign stands as a testament to Prizren's commitment to preserving its heritage, fostering local engagement, and embracing digital innovation in the pursuit of sustainable development.
