De-bureaucratisation through Digital Government Reform Bahrain Case Study

November 12, 2025

Bahrain demonstrates one of the most successful examples of debureaucratization of public administration through the implementation of digital technologies. As part of the Bahrain Vision 2030 strategy, the country has been actively reforming its public service delivery system, making it more transparent, efficient, and convenient for citizens and businesses.
The presented case study illustrates how the simplification of administrative procedures, institutional coordination, and the reengineering of public services have significantly improved the efficiency of government operations and enabled the introduction of more than 700 digital services.
Special attention is given to the role of the Information & eGovernment Authority (IGA), which has become the key driver of Bahrain’s digital transformation. Thanks to its initiatives, transaction times have been greatly reduced, operational costs lowered, and the overall quality of government–citizen interaction has improved.
