The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP), within The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), provides civil society organizations with technical and financial support. Under its new funding cycle, the SGP is inviting interested NGOs, CBOs, and academic institutions, from The Bahamas only, to complete a project proposal form for consideration for funding within the following thematic areas:

a. Community-based conservation of threatened ecosystems and species
b. Sustainable agriculture and fisheries, and food security
c. Low-carbon energy access co-benefits
d. Local to global coalitions for chemicals and waste management
e. Water Conservation

Grant requests must have maximum community reach and must be sustainable. There are two levels of grant funding available:

  • Planning grant - a planning grant can be used to conduct a study for the implementation of a pilot project or the implementation of a project that has a maximum value of USD $5,000.
  • Full grant - maximum value of USD $75,000, available to CSOs or formal partnerships between CSOs and enterprises.
