Training Manual on Climate Change Adaptation in Agri Value Chain 2019

Training Manual on Climate Change Adaptation in Agri Value Chain 2019

July 17, 2023

India’s agrarian economy is vulnerable to climate change. These training manuals have been developed with the objective of familiarising stakeholders, government officials and farmers on adapting to climate change to build resilience in farming practices and post-harvest management. The modules are designed to explain climate change, environment impact and most importantly, how the agriculture sector is vulnerable in an agri-rich economy like India. Climate change is affecting not only farmer producers but also those involved in aggregation and collection, transportation, storage and food processing – all considered as value chain actors. Participants can learn about various resilience measures, such as planting drought-resistant crops, protecting against rising sea levels and other solutions. The manuals can help civil society build the perspective of smallholders and government stakeholders on climate change as perceived by them and help in familiarizing them with common adaptation measures feasible in India’s Indo-Gangetic plains.
