India, one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change, has emerged as a global leader in climate action. Rooted in a tradition that reveres nature, from Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam to Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings, India combines traditional knowledge with modern innovation to address climate challenges.
Led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change with technical support from UNDP India, this publication highlights India’s decade-long climate journey. It showcases progress on Nationally Determined Contributions, the Panchamrit strategy, and Mission LiFE, alongside advances in renewable energy, carbon sinks, climate-resilient agriculture, water security, disaster management, and urban resilience. It also reflects India’s role in global climate negotiations, advocacy for the Global South, and a growing climate-tech and innovation ecosystem.
The book provides a roadmap toward a Viksit and Sustainable Bharat 2047, demonstrating India’s commitment to inclusive, low-carbon, and climate-resilient development.
