Celebrating a Decade of Digitalization

November 26, 2025

Ten years ago, India began deploying indigenously developed digital health technologies to enhance the efficiency of its vaccine supply chain. These innovations ensured that life-saving vaccines reached every health centre - from Kashmir to Kanyakumari - protecting the lives of millions of newborns.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) embarked on its digitalization journey with the launch of the Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN). Over the past decade, this effort has been strengthened through the support of partners such as Gavi, with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) providing technical and implementation assistance.

During the pandemic, India rolled out Co-WIN, the technological backbone of its massive vaccination programme. This platform not only helped curb the spread of the virus but also played a pivotal role in restoring normalcy across the nation.

More recently, India launched U-WIN (Universal Immunization WIN), a transformative platform aimed at streamlining the nation’s immunization programme and ensuring that no child is left behind.

India’s digital health journey has only just begun. The focus is now expanding to include the development of health systems for the livestock sector and zoonotic disease surveillance, guided by a One Health approach. The success of the past decade will continue to propel the adoption of digital systems across new areas of public health.

This coffee table book captures this decade-long digital health journey through powerful and inspiring photographs - chronicling milestones and the healthcare workers who made India’s transformation possible.

Each image tells a story of innovation, resilience, and a collective commitment to building a healthier, more inclusive future.
