Nobaschecker: Platform Luso Fact Checking fights against fake news in Guinea-Bissau

During this COVID-19 pandemic, the rapid dissemination of fake news and disinformation can put many lives at risk. Many articles and news reports, with topics ranging from the origin of the virus to unproved prevention and cure, are published on various social networks and on other online platforms without quoting any evidence. Therefore, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Guinea-Bissau supported the development of a fact checking site that helps the citizens of Guinea-Bissau to having access to credible information.

By gathering a broad community of fact verifiers involving journalists, doctors, economists from Guinea-Bissau and around the world, the site aims to fighting misinformation and unmasking false news around the pandemic by providing scientifically verified facts and news.

The platform managed by Innovalab is supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Guinea-Bissau and the United Nations Integrated Peace-Building Office in Guinea Bissau (UNIOGBIS).
