Local Livelihoods of Tushetian Shepherds. 2014
January 19, 2015
The present research explores the livelihoods of the Tushetian shepherds, who have long used the Vashlovani Protected Areas as traditional winter pastures. It examines the perspectives of livestock farm owners and users, residents of nearby villages, municipal authorities, and park rangers. The study covers key aspects such as forms of land ownership, satisfaction with veterinary services, and economic indicators shaping local livelihoods.
The research was commissioned by the European Union and UNDP, as part of the Clima East programme supporting rehabilitation and sustainable management of pastures in Georgia.
