September 25, 2020

The study examines how sports organizations in Georgia comply with the principles of good governance. It examines 21 sport organizations - 18 national sport federations and three regional sport organizations, based on a methodology developed by the Danish Institute for Sports Education (Play the Game) as part of the National Sports Governance Observer project for national and regional sports organizations.

The research reveals that Georgian sports organizations only partly implement the principles of transparency (19 percent), democratic processes (37 percent), internal accountability (18 percent) and social responsibility (16 percent). The overall complience to the good governance principles is 23 percent.

The research was initiated by the Sports and Youth Committee of the Georgian Parliament with UNDP and Sweden support.
